We returned from our weekend camping trip to the Wichita Mountains, and I have several great new photos to begin working on. While browsing my files, I came across this image, and I remembered exactly how I captured it. I had to borrow my wife’s 200-500mm lens to achieve this composition, but the conditions were so good that it was worth the extra climb to reach this view. After importing the image into Photoshop, I started to begin processing it. I made two huge changes in the first steps of my edit. Normally, I wait until the end before I make these particular adjustments. First, I changed the crop to a 2:1 ratio to tighten up the composition and bring those huge boulders into the immediate foreground. Secondly, I instantly converted this image to black and white. I knew when I took this shot that it would make a good candidate for a black-and-white image. I’ll be excited to see where the final image takes me. Rest assured, this one will be going into the online portfolio.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
